Army Officers (HEER) Dress Sword WWII:
Grip = Loins head with rubies
Blade Marks:
Hilt mark = CBS:CBSC:
Bade mark = Eickhorn - with Squirrel holding Sword - Solingen
Third Reich Army Lion Head Sword. Carl Eickhorn TM.
Believed to be Eickhorn Kundendienst pattern Nr. 1695.
This is a beautiful example of an Army pattern sword that was carried
by the Police prior to the introduction of the standard 1936 pattern
Police sword.
I have found few if any "Eickhorn" patterns such as this on the Internet
or other markets.
This is a fine excellent and rare example of "Eickhorn".
It has an
excellent gilded finish over aluminum base.
The gilding overall is just about at 100%.
This is an unusually good-looking hilt.
The "Lions Head" does not have the high ridge above the forehead as
commonly found,
and has the ears laid back against the head rather
than pointing upward,
also the mane is of a different design than as
commonly found.
The pommel and
backstrap and "P-guard" feature a relieved oak leaf and acorn theme.
There are signs of hand-enhancing to the veins of the
leaves and there's a pebbled background throughout.
The ferrule also has oak leaf and acorn theme around the edge.
The crossguard has
small beading which runs its length and it ends in a volute.
There is a floral design at the upper part of the quillon.
The langet features a prominent closed winged Wehrmacht eagle
clutching a
swastika.
This eagle and Swastika both have exceptionally fine detail.
The celluloid
grip is in perfect condition. This grip is tightly wrapped with
triple aluminum wire, the center wire is twisted.
The hilt is stamped, "Ges. Gesch.", indicating Eickhorn had applied for a
patent on this design.
The 32-inch long blade is a perfection, to be expected of the
"Eickhorn" trademark.
It is
mirror bright the full length and has an outstanding polished nickel-plated finish.
This blade is in near mint condition.
The reverse ricasso is stamped with
the 1935-41 "Eickhorn" squirrel trademark.
The brown leather blade washer is in
place and is in excellent condition.
The scabbard is straight it's full length
and has excellent original black paint.
The paint has some chips, but still has v.good luster. It doesn't
take away from the sword.
This
is an excellent "Eickhorn" example.
Condition Sword near mint 9+
Scabbard 8+ No dents, chips in paint

An Excellent piece, Grades Excellent + over all, by Eickhorn ,
This company made Top Quality Swords.
This one is exactly as one would expect it to be.
It is properly maker marked on the obverse with the "Eickhorn " maker mark.
The sword shows the manufacturers logo etched into the blade.
Well detailed crossguard with virtually no loss of gold.
Gold over aluminum fittings show very little surface wear to pommel and cross guard.
Hilt and pommel are excellent ++ 100% original in unaltered condition.

The "Black" celluloid grip is unaltered showing no cracks or chips.
The grip is in excellent original condition...

The Polished, blade grades Exc.++ The blade is difficult to photograph,
because of reflections on the highly polished mirror perfect surface.
I assure you that the blade is as perfect as the hilt and pommel area!
Showing virtually no surface wear and very minor slide marks,
no nicks to cutting edges, showing 1 very tiny mark on each side of the blade.
Blade is complete with leather blade buffer pad.
No dents on the black painted scabbard.
The Scabbard has some chipped paint
No dents to the scabbard tip from dropping.

It's complete with detailed Lions head retaining both original red glass eyes.

See the unique laidback ears, flat skull and the highly detailed
mane...

The only way it could be better would to be "unissued".
Which it probably was!
