Vintage Gibson Guitar
Model "Les Paul" Standard. year made 1974
Finish "Sunburst"
Sr.# 122267 mfg. 1974
Impressed on headstock "Made in USA"
Les Paul Std. Sunburst
During the years 1971 thru 1975 the Gibson Les Paul standard guitars
were made only by special order,
This guitar is a
Custom order with
full size humbuckers.
This 1974 Gibson Les Paul Std. Tobacco Sunburst is a rare Les Paul.
It is the 1st issue series with full size Humbuckers since the late
50's .
It was the last year for a 3 piece mahogany neck "No neck Volute"
( post '75 all Les
Paul's used maple necks with volute).
On this
guitar...
Machines have been replaced with vintage "Grover" made in USA tuners
maybe 20 years ago.
Bridge bolt holes left from the replacement bridge have been filled in.
Paint chipping around the back edge of the body.
Buckle
rash in the center of the body back.
The back of the is neck
discolored from use.
Look carefully at the
photos.
I've tried to show all of the flaws,
although the marks and dings are pretty normal
for a guitar that is 34 years old and loved and played regularly...
Should
probably need a fret dressing job.
You'll
have to do a setup on this guitar to suit your own style!
This guitar is a player, not for some collectors display case!

There is fingerboard wear...

1974 Les Paul Standard

Body close up. See the "black circle". That's a chip n the finish...
The bridge stud holes in the body have been filled in and re-drilled.
Why the bridge was replaced I will never understand!

Back of the body pictured in it's case, showing deep "Buckle
Rash" and chipped finish and discolored neck.

The lid strap has been cut!

The circle in the photo shows finish chipped

Guitar and case.

Here are the tuners! See finish melted by Cigarette heat!

Here is the headstock...
A new set of un-played "Dean Markley Signature" strings (light gauge).
The impressed USA serial number began in 1970 and ended in 1974
To be replaced by a transfer in 1975.

You can see that this guitar was knocked off of the stand and onto the
stage a few times...

The first marker dot and binding is dinged from falling off of the stand.

How does this guitar look? Fantastic! The way a Les Paul can only look
after it's 30 years old or more!
Out side of case.
